Certina Watch Repair - New York | Manhattan Time Service®
Service Recommendations for Certina watches In order to maintain its perfect working order it is recommended that Certina watches are serviced every five to six years. Like any other high-precision instrument, the exact service interval depends on a number of factors, most notably the stresses and weather conditions to which it has been exposed, as well as the watch model. Generally, luxury watches should be examined by a master watchmaker every three to four years.

Historical Info
Certina Kurth Frères SA started as a simple movement and supplies factory for the watchmaking industry in 1888. Opened by Adolf and Alfred Kurth in Grenchen, its first few years in business were only devoted to producing timepiece parts, but before long Certina began making high-quality, completed timepieces with a three-person staff in a workshop connected to a family home.
By 1938, in its 50th year, the company employed 250 people, and by 1955, the 500-person company was producing around 1,000 timepieces a day. By 1972, Certina was producing over 600,000 watches in year.
Technical Advancements
Certina’s first wristwatches were specifically made for women, as men in that time still preferred pocket watches. However, as men’s wristwatches became fashionable, Certina began building its collections for both genders. Today, Certina’s watch collections are constructed with titanium, 316L high grade stainless steel, sapphire crystals (which are very resistant to scratches) double O-ring gaskets in the crown, reinforced case backs, a double-security (DS) feature, as well as ETS Swiss-made watch movements.
What Makes Certina Unique
Certina provides detailed, high-quality watches with a beautiful aesthetic for all types of wearers. Certainly a leader in sports-oriented timepieces, all of Certina’s collections express mastery in timekeeping and cutting-edge designs.
