Bulova Watch Repair - New York | Manhattan Time Service®
It is recommended that Bulova watches with mechanical movements be inspected every three to five years and the quartz movements be examined after every battery change. Like any other finely crafted machine, regular maintenance is needed to ensure its optimal performance. Bulova watches are powered by wheel train that leads to the watch hands, and in order to reduce friction, the pivots of these wheels turn on “jewels” – small synthetic rubies filled with specific oils. It takes a specialized lubricant to minimize the friction on these “jewels.” If the lubrication is allowed to wear or dry out, it could cause the watch to run erratically or even stop altogether.
At Manhattan Time Service, we provide the best infrastructure and qualified, professional staff who can repair or restore your beloved Bulova timepiece using the latest techniques and instruments. We specialize in modern and vintage watches, and before we complete any work we run a series of tests and prepare a detailed estimate – completely free of charge.

Historical Info
The J. Bulova Corporation was founded in 1875 by Joseph Bulova, a Bohemian immigrant who moved to Woodside, Queens, New York City, to develop new tools and innovations in watchmaking. In the beginning, Bulova limited its production to pocket watches and various pieces of jewelry, but over time Bulova expanded its watch line and gained a reputation for excellence in New York. Before long, production could not keep up with demand. In 1941, the Bulova Watch Company bought the world’s first television commercial for $4. It was a placement on a New York TV station before a baseball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Brooklyn Dodgers.
The company went on to found the Joseph Bulova School of Watchmaking in 1945 to provide a training opportunity for disabled veterans after WWII. And in 1979, the Bulova Watch Company became part of the Loews Corporation. Today, Bulova watches still reign as one of the world’s most popular names in the industry.
Technological Advancements
The Bulova Accutron served an important role in US space history, being part of 46 space missions and even finding itself on the arm of man’s first moon landing.
