Breitling Gets High in the Sky with the Wingwalkers
Luxury watch brand, Breitling, is soaring to new heights by offering a stunning show in aerobatics. Breitling is already world renowned for its incredible aviation watches and chronographs. And for the Breitling Wingwalkers the company sponsored the restoration of two legendary aircraft, the Breitling Super Constellation and Breitling DC-3. Both are 1940s open-cockpit Boeing Stearman biplanes running on 450 HP Pratt & Whitney engines that feature smoke trail systems to show the path of each plane.
Each Breitling show offers two different acts. One act features planes flying in formation and the other showcasing the talents of young women perched on the center of the upper wing and performing a synchronized routine of aerobatics. Very much from the post WWI-era of “barnstormers,” where pilots and stuntmen performed daredevil tricks all over the world, the Breitling Wingwalkers is a unique act that made its mark performing all over Europe.
The maximum speeds reached during the act are 345 km/h, and the planes can soar to a height of 4,800 meters. The young performers entertain on a wingspan of merely 9.80 meters.
