Service Recommendations for Your Dior Watch
It is recommended that your Dior’s mechanical movement be inspected and overhauled every 3-5 years and the quartz movements be examined with every battery change. Like any other finely tuned instrument, regular maintenance is needed to ensure its best performance. Dior watches are powered by a wheel train that leads to the watch’s hands, and in order to reduce friction over time, the pivots of these wheels turn on “jewels” – small synthetic rubies filled with specialized oils. A specialized lubricant is needed in order to minimize the friction on these “jewels.” If the lubrication is allowed to wear or dry out, it could cause the watch to run erratically or cause damage to its delicate components.

Historical Info
Soon after Christian Dior was born in Normandy in 1905, he and his family moved to Paris. It was in this great city that Dior established the French Fashion House in 1947, which was part of his own residence on Avenue Montaigne. His spring fashion collection was an instant success, likely due to the fact that it contrasted the graveness of Paris post-WWII. Dior’s overnight success laid the way for his high-fashion dominance. Starting in 1975, Dior added luxury watches to its list of high fashion accessories, and the result was no less than a perfect union between couture and fine Swiss watchmaking.
Technological Advancements
The first Dior watch was released in 1975, called the “Black Moon,” and it came out in collaboration with licensee Benedom. Dior watches guaranteed their watches by the newly created international technical standards of the “Swiss Made” label, which only emerged four years earlier. The “Swiss Made” label ensured that every watch bearing the label adhered to some very strict Swiss-endorsed conditions.
What Makes Dior Watches Unique
Dior watches are provocative, innovative and creative. They embody a perfect union of fashion, luxury and fine “Swiss Made” watchmaking excellence, so not only are they trend-setting and high fashion, but they are extremely accurate and reliable.
Recent Events
November 2010
Dior released two unique watches for women, called the “La D de Dior,” which is oddly reminiscent of an elementary school rhyme. Each 25mm wide watch features a steel case and a unique design. One is an assortment of sharp angles, like a jumbled checkerboard, and the other is simply-styled with needle hands, black leather strap, Tahitian mother-of-pearl dial and diamond hour markers. Each watch includes the Swiss Eta Quartz movement.
