Repairing Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Eight Days Watch

When we get the chance to repair watches of the calibre of this extraordinary Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Eight Days Watch here at Manhattan Time Service it really does give us an appreciation of what we do and showcases just how intricately put together the timepieces from the world's leading Swiss watchmakers truly are. It's extraordinary to witness the sheer attention to detail and exemplary craftsmanship that goes into watches like this and we love getting our hands on them and helping to restore them to former glories.

On this occasion, we found a Master Eight Days Watch from Jaeger-LeCoultre finding its way into our workshop and from the minute we set it down on the surface and got to work on the repairs, we could immediately tell that it is a cut above in horology circles. This is the sort of timepiece that is coveted by those with a love of the finer things in life and is one of the most refined and sophisticated watches on the market - which shouldn't come as too much of a surprise given its come from the stable of one of the world's most iconic and respected Swiss watchmakers.

Extraordinarily well made from top to bottom and no attention to detail lacking, this is unquestionably one of the most impressive watches we've had in the workshop at Manhattan Time Service and when we'd finished work on it, it was back to its old self, running good as new.

Sophistication Personified

So far as elegant and timeless watches are concerned, Jaeger-LeCoultre are one of the best in the business and this instantly obvious from timepieces like the Master Eight Day. This spectacular piece of craftsmanship is one of the cornerstone pieces of the Swiss watchmaker's line up and boasts a supremely stylish and refined example of the perpetual calendar function in action and which serves as a benchmark for other watchmakers to follow.

Jaeger-LeCoultre are a watchmaker that truly need no introduction and it's because of watches like this one we found on on workbench. Stunning precision, breathtaking craftsmanship and the finest materials all combine to make their timepieces a cut above the competition and it's not until you get up close and personal with them that you can see just how special they really are. The Master Eight Day watch from JLC is so-called because it has eight days of power reserve and it is a fine watchmaking model that is truly distinguished by a high standard of performance and sophisticated design that is unparalleled in the industry.

Within a watch of this calibre, you'd expect to find nothing but the best and so it proves with the Master Eight Day. It boasts a Jaeger-LeCoultre 876-440B automatic movement, a water resistant stainless steel casing that is both stylish and robust, 262 Vibrations per hour : 28800 Jewels : 37 Barrel : 2 Height : 6.60 mm movement (which was a pleasure to work on, of course) and a silvered, Sunray-brushed, Rhodium-plated hour-markers dial that adds a touch of class to the overall aesthetics of the watch.

Breathtaking Detail

Each and every element of this fantastic timepice from JLC is a real sight to behold and you'll be blow away with how much skill has gone into its inner workings - we certainly were here at Manhattan Time Service. It's important to remember that despite all the care and attention that the master watchmakers of the Jaeger-LeCoultre workshop have put into crafting these timepieces, at the end of the day, its accuracy is heavily influenced by external factors like gravity, magnetic fields, accidental impacts, and the ageing of oils. That's where we can come in and help and make sure that your watch is running exactly as it should be and it was a real pleasure to do exactly that for the owner of this stunning Jaeger-LeCoultre timepiece.

Swiss watches are an incredible feat of craftsmanship and design and its in timepieces like this that you really realize just how true this statement is. The Master Eight Day Watch from JLC has, like all the watches from the iconic brand undergone a stringent “1000 Hours Control” test which is a set of comprehensive and rigorous tests lasting a full 1000 hours. It is this level of service that means we rarely get the opportunity to work on watches from Jaeger-LeCoultre at Manhattan Time Service because they are so well put together that we often aren't required to work our magic!

Whenever we get a watch like this into our workshop at Manhattan Time Service, it serves as a reminder of the importance of Swiss watchmaking and showcases why some watchmakers have managed to maintain their reputation for centuries because of the sheer attention to detail and quality of craftsmanship that goes into all the timepieces that they produce. This Master Eight Day Watch from Jaeger-LeCoultre is one of the favorite pieces that we've worked on of late and there was a tangible sense of satisfaction when we returned it to its owner, good as new.
